I recently received a letter from long time football official Bob Carnagey that I wanted to share with our readers and listeners. As a father of a US Marine, I can tell you every day is filled with anxiety and appreciation for our men and women who serving in our armed forces. The Regional Radio Sports Network is partnering with one of the most important endeavors of our lifetime. Please read the letter below and join us as we say THANK YOU...to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

Paul, as a long time high school football official that listens to your program as we return home from our Friday night assignments, I wanted to thank you for your commitment to high school sports. You and your team assist in making the high school athlete feel that they accomplishing some very special in their athletic endeavors.

Another activity that I am involved in and that may be of interested to you and your listerners is Folds of Honor.

Last year, our group held a single golf outing at The Course at Aberdeen in Valparaiso and raised more than $30,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation. The event ranked 10th out of 4,500 participating golf courses nationwide.

Plans are underway for Friends of Folds of Honor’s 2012 Patriot Weekend fundraising events September 1-4, 2012, including: a Patriotic Concert, a 2nd Golf Event and Charity Dinner. Another former football player, Valparaiso Mayor, Jon Costas serves as Honorary Chairman of our Committee.

Folds of Honor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity that provides academic scholarships to the more than 250,000 dependents of our nation’s military heroes who have been killed in action or severely wounded in action. These brave young men and women work hard to protect our freedoms and we sometimes take for granted - just like the high school athlete who work hours, days and years to hone their skills on the field of competition.

I hope you and your listeners will take a few minutes out of their busy day to think about our military heroes and then if they feel they would like to assist us in honoring these servicemen and women just get in touch with us at www.fohvalpo.com (email: info@fohvalpo.com) to learn more about the upcoming events and this wonderful charity focused on the children of our community.
