Last night- Bob Lovell and I hosted the 38th annual IHSAA pairings show from the IHSAAsports.org head quarters on Monument circle in Indianapolis. As I reflect back now on the fastest three hours of my life- I can say with out reservation it is an experience! OH MY do we know how to pick'em or what? The ping-pong balls set the stage for some dramatic match-ups! Roncalli vs Cathedral, Warren Central vs Hamilton Southeastern, Tecumseh vs Linton Stockton, Ben Davis vs Pike and of course 3A champ Chatard gets a bye in round ONE!
Its an amazing little machine- that ping-pong ball machine. During the pairings event IHSAA commish, Blake Rees sits less that six-feet from me and I can see and hear it all!
One note to all- THE TOURNEY is not Rigged! I have been there and done that. If any of you think there is a great BIG conspiracy for or against the private/ parochial schools- you are an idiot! Sorry to be so blunt- But the facts are what they are.
The 38th IHSAA tourney as always presents great hope for 317 teams! Anything can happen- As we saw a few years ago when NorthWood struggled to a 3-6 regular season record and then went on tear and won the 3A title! Tourney time is right around the corner- I for one am looking forward to my 38th state championship series...stay tuned it should be a hoot!
