Round One of the 37th ANNUAL IHSAA FOOTBALL TOURNEY presented by the Indianapolis Colts&was dandy and so were the performances by our student athletes. Here is the Indiana Football Digest Honor Roll for week ten!

In one of the wildest games in the first round of the ISHAA Tourney the Bloomington North Cougars upended the Decatur Central Hawks, 50-49 and of course there were great performances on both sides of the field. For the victorious Panthers it was DAngelo Roberts rushing for 329 yards with six touchdowns, including the game winning two-point conversion in OT. Decatur Central was led by fullback Sean Evans who rushed seven times for 105 yards with a TD and halfback Cody Turner who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Turner also caught a 62-yard TD pass from quarterback Brandon Ledford. Ledford also was spectacular, rushing for 163 yards and throwing for 155 yards with four touchdowns. Roberts, a junior, fell five yards short of the single-game rushing mark of John Rochell (334 yards in 1994) and tied the single-game TD mark set by Anthony Lindsey, who once threw six touchdown passes.

In the battle of Columbus- The East Olympians Shane Henderson had quite a night. The 6-1, 160, junior wide receiver accounted for all of the East points in a 27-26 comeback thriller against crosstown rival Columbus North. He did it with: two touchdown receptions, one touchdown pass, two field goals (27 and 26 yards) and three extra points. Henderson also kicked four kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks, and had an interception on the final play of the game to seal the deal. Henderson also punted the ball twice for a total of 75 yards (his average is 38 on the year) and had a handful of tackles. On the night, the versatile junior had 11 catches for 153 yards, and a 35 yard pass for a score. In addition, Columbus East is 68-7 over the last six years, best record in Indiana. Shane Henderson entered Friday night with 61 career receptions, and 1324 yds. receiving (8th and 5th respectively in East history) Henderson's 21.7 yards per catch is the best in school history. Rumor has it, that Henderson sold popcorn at halftime- but we could not confirm that as of this writing.

On October 9th the Martinsville Artesians smacked the Whiteland Warriors around en route to a 34-0 regular season win. Head Coach Darrin Fischers ball club gave the Artesians a little bit of their own medicine when it counted for real on Friday night as the Warriors repaid the favor with a 58-33 win.
