It's good to be back! Wow, a lot has happened in the world of sports since my last post, and most of it was either crazy or surprising! Two local teams, Bowman Academy and Wheeler, won boys state basketball championships, Butler made it all the way to the NCAA championship game against Duke, the Blackhawks ended a 49-year drought and captured Lord Stanley's Cup, and something about a "Decision" that warranted a one-hour special on worldwide television. That's just some of the zaniness that's happened since my last blog post. But enough of the craziness, already, it's time to start talking high school football!!!!!Next week, I'll be posting a daily blog previewing all five classes, starting on Monday, August 2nd (the first official day for "pads" across the state of Indiana) with class 1A. I'll conclude on Friday, August 6th with a preview of class 5A. Then don't forget to join the Regional Radio Sports network crew on Monday, August 9th on WEFM (95.9FM) and on rrsn.com at 5:30pm for a live broadcast of the Region football kickoff show. We'll unveil the Indiana Football Digest preseason top 15 for all five classes at that time (if you don't have your copy of the magazine just yet), and have coaches and players from across the Region to preview the 2010 high school football season. I'll have frequent blogs throughout the season, including highlighting some of the top games and the top teams from not only the Region, but across the state of Indiana. This year promises to be an interesting one, and there are plenty of questions to be asked and answered. Who will challenge Merrillville in the DAC? How will Lowell fare without coach Kirk Kennedy who has moved on to Bloomington South? Can Morton repeat as sectional champs? These are just a few of the questions that will be answered this season. Looking forward to talking high school football once again, and it all starts with the class 1A preview on Monday. |
