Raiders Invade Chargers’ Home Court
PLYMOUTH, IN – Nationally ranked Grand Rapids Community College proved to be a tough match up for Ancilla volleyball as they defeated the Chargers 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.
In the last home game for the season, six Ancilla sophomores were honored including players: Mieka Wagner, Jessica Moore, Hayley Mavrick, Hannah Kelley, Sydney Beaune, and team manager Brittany Kasten. With sixteen digs, Mackenzie White led the Charger defense, while Suzanne Grimm and Mavrick dished out twelve and ten respectively. Grimm also contributed to the offensive efforts, combining with Courtney Griffith for 27 of Ancilla’s 29 total assists. Moore was tops in the kill category picking up eight. Mariah Kinney and Mavrick each offered an additional six kills each.
Charger coach Lana Singleton remarked, “Overall I was proud of the team’s effort. They are still down a starter, yet pulled together and had some great plays.”
Kellogg Community College will host Ancilla on Tuesday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m. in a conference match up.
