Dithrich Free-Kick Lifts Taylor Past Goshen 1-0
GOSHEN, Ind. – Christi Dithrich scored about halfway through the second half off a free-kick to lift Taylor women’s soccer to a 1-0 victory over Goshen.
The game was a scoreless defensive battle until Dithrich blasted a free-kick from the face of the goal, putting the ball past Goshen keeper Natalie Thorne.
The Trojan defense and goalkeeper Kristiana Griffith remained solid throughout to claim the shutout victory on the road. Goshen was able to only fire six shots total for the game, with each one being turned back. Griffith totaled five saves for the game.
The Taylor offense placed every one of its seven shots on the Goshen net, with Thorne allowing just the one goal and making six saves. Amanda Roden led the Trojans in shots with five.
Taylor (9-6, 2-5 CL) will be back in action after the victory this upcoming Wednesday in a match with Bethel. The game will be held at Taylor and kickoff is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
