LAKELAND, Fla.- Southeastern University signed tight end Amari Williams to their 2014 recruiting class. Williams comes to the Fire after spending a year at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
During his season with the Reddies, Williams recorded nine total tackles, including one for loss against Southern Arkansas. Before Henderson State, Williams was an All-Midwest Conference selection at Elsworth Community College, totaling 46 catches for 568 yards and six scores
“I chose Southeastern because they love God, and they love football,” said Williams. “I have a few friends here as well, and am excited to be with them again.”
The 6-3, 250-pound graduate of Mainland High School in Daytona Beach also caught 16 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns his freshman year at Elsworth.
“Amari is an excellent blocker as well as a pass receiver that has college experience, and starting college experience at that,” said Coach Keith Barefield. “We expect he and Jonathan Liptak to give us bookend tight ends that make our offense more versatile.”
The Fire begin their first season of competition on September 6th, when they travel to Faulkner University.
