Cougars Defeat Chargers
KALAMAZOO, MI – The Ancilla College men’s basketball team lost their first MCCAA conference game of the season to Kalamazoo Valley Community College by a score of 76-74.
Leading the Chargers in scoring was 6’5” forward Demetrius Adams with 24 points. Andrenos Powell put up 21 points, while Juwan Johnson added sixteen more. Adding to the Ancilla offense was Xavier Ringo, who had eight assists for the evening. Sophomore Jay Feltson collected ten total rebounds for the Chargers, putting him at the top of that category.
Ancilla head coach Aaron Butcher reflected, “We came out really slow. Our focus and energy weren’t where they needed to be, as we gave up 30 points in the first nine minutes. Despite playing a very poor first half, we still had a shot to win it at the end. KVCC is a very good team and will win a lot of games. We have to refocus quickly since we have a tough Grand Rapids team coming to Ancilla on Saturday."
The Chargers will host the Raiders of Grand Rapids Community College on Saturday, January 18, at 3:00 p.m.
